Non-Invasive Measurement of Heart Muscle Contractility Provide Best Predictor of Survival after Aortic Valve Replacement
At the 57th Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), Dr. Jeffrey S. Borer is presenting the findings of a 28-year study that show that a non-invasively measured contractility descriptor previously used to predict clinical outcomes in patients with aortic regurgitation (AR -- leaking aortic valve) without surgery is also a superior measure for determining survival after AR is relieved by aortic valve replacement (AVR). Bradwell Institute Senior Uses Graffiti in Art
Graffiti is usually associated with crime and gangs. Yet one Hinesville teen is using that art form in a positive way. "I do anything from drawing to color pencil," says Jaye Robinson, a senior at Bradwell Institute. He kept his talent hidden from his teachers because he never took art. "He sat in here the entire year and had incredible talent unbeknownst to me," says Joanne Ramppel, a drawing, painting and photography teacher. Jaye also does graffiti. "I've been doing that for like five years now," says Jaye, but he does it the legal way – adding it to other pieces or even at restaurants like A Taste of Philly. "I painted in graffiti "Water Ice" and then I made a whole bunch of icies," says Jaye. Jaye knows that when he tells people he does graffiti, negative thoughts come to mind.
